I don't know what I loved more - the movie or the length.

Spoiler Free Review

I don't even know where to start. This (The Marvels) was the simplest Marvel related content I have seen in so long. I mean dont get me wrong I love Loki and I love his show, but I haven't really understood what's going on in season 2 of Loki (haven't finished it yet). However, if I weren't as familiar with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) I wouldn't know who these amazing characters were. For example, my mom and I saw Captain Marvel together but she's not a big Marvel person. Unlike myself she's only really seen that and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies (sprinkle in a few others that I may be forgetting), so like most MCU stuff I watched it by myself at the theater. If she had been there I would've had to explain who the characters were and if I had been explaining everything I would've missed out on the iconically amazing: Kamala Khan!

I Had So Much Fun!

I haven’t read many reviews for the movie, but I have seen some headlines saying that this wasn’t Marvel’s best release. Okay fine, it's not the best movie that Marvel has ever made but it's certainly not the worst. The movie was engaging, simple, and so much fun! I thought that this was one of Marvel’s best team ups. A small spoiler/not spoiler is that the three main characters’ (Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan) powers get intertwined because they all touched the same thing at the same time (I think, I was too busy shoving popcorn in my face). Anyway whenever the women use their powers they transport themselves to wherever one of them is. For example, if Monica is at a military base, Carol was on her spaceship, and Kamala was at school and one of them used their powers then Monica might end up at Kamala’s school, Carol would be at the military base, and Kamala would be on Carol’s spaceship - make sense . . . great! I think them understanding how individual powers work and respecting each other and their abilities and experiences made for an amazing movie.

I’m not really in favor of a movie with all the female heroes/anti-heroes/etc. because I think it would be too much for Marvel and audiences and it would likely deter them (Marvel) from making movies like The Marvels in the future, but I would love smaller team-up movies like this one. For example, if Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh from Black Widow), Power Broker/Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp from Falcon and the Winter Soldier), and Xu Xialing (Meng’er Zhang from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) were to appear in a movie of a Disney+ series together I would become obsessed with it. I would love an anti-hero squad of badass women. I’m getting off topic - anyway, I loved this movie and I think other people should watch it.
