Here are some TV shows and movies that I have started watching in the last month (January) that are making me love TV and movies more than I thought I could!
The Magicians
While waiting for House of the Dragon and The Wheel of Time to come back for their next seasons, I found this beautiful gem of a show on Netflix and while it took me a while to become fully invested I found love and I can’t wait to see more magic.
Culprits
I have quite finished this Hulu original series, but after a slow start I find myself so entranced by the heist that these ‘culprits’ committed all those years ago and what went wrong that would leave the team haunted by an unknown ghost who is seeking justice - for some reason.
Past Lives
I only recently saw this movie but it was at the top of my list. A very big front-runner for the Best Picture Oscar in March, Past Lives is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Words cannot express how important it is for people to watch this Celine Song masterpiece.
This Is Where I Leave You
A beautiful piece of art about how grief affects everyone differently. Not everyone cries, not everyone screams. Sometimes people life, sometimes people get high in Temple. What do you do when you grieve?
2 Dope Queens
HBO comedy specials don’t really exist anymore it all morphed into Netflix comedy specials, so when you find a good comedy special on Max you gotta take the opportunity to really enjoy the amazingness that those comedians are offering. In this case, 2 Dope Queens which is based on a podcast of the same name has different comedians from all walks of life coming on to a big New York City stage and talking about hair or being black nerds (or blerds, if you prefer). The hosts of the special (who live up to the title) are Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson; both of these incredible women created the podcast and are solely responsible for making the podcast and the specials into what they are today.
